“The people of Laya call their land Beyul, the hidden paradise. This trek takes you into the high-altitude wonderland of Laya village nestled at the foot of Mount Masagang (7,200m/23,615 ft). Blue sheep and musk deer graze on alpine slopes covered in wildflowers, villagers tend to their yaks. From Punakha, the trail climbs a winding path through lush semi-tropical forests and tranquil meadows to the village of Gasa, and then finally into the high alpine region of Laya.”

DAY 05 GASA - KOINA (start trek)
Distance 15 km/9.3 miles; Time 6 hour Balela pass (3900m/12,792 ft). Altitude of Koina 3240m/10,627 ft.
DAY 06 KOINA – KULU KHAR
Distance 14 km/8.7 miles; Time 7 hour Altitude of Kulu Khar: 3760m/12,333 ft.
DAY 07 KULU KHAR - NULITHANG
Distance 12 km/7.4 miles; Time 5 hour Altitude of Nulithang: 4050m/13,285 ft.
DAY 08 NULITHANG (rest day)
DAY 09 NULITHANG - LAYA
Distance 20 km/12 miles; Time 6-7 hours Altitude of Laya (3,800m/12,465 ft)
DAY 10 LAYA - KOINA
Distance 16 km/10 miles; Time 6 hours Altitude of Koina (3,240 m/10,627 ft)
DAY 11 KOINA – GASA HOT SPRINGS (trek ends)
Distance 12 km/7.4 miles; Time 6 hours Altitude (2,220m/7,282 ft)
DAY 12 GASA HOT SPRINGS - PUNAKHA
DAY 13 PUNAKHA – THIMPHU – PARO
